Service Intervals: When to Book a Movement Overhaul

2026.10.21 · AURELIS Support · Source: AURELIS TIME

Why service matters

Movement oils thicken and oxidise over time, and continued running accelerates wear on the gear train. Book a service when the watch loses time noticeably, the power reserve shortens, or winding feels gritty.

Recommended intervals

  • Daily-worn mechanical: every 3 to 5 years.
  • Stored watches: run the movement every 2 years and service every 5 to 6.
  • Divers: water-resistance test annually, seals every 2 years.

What an overhaul includes

Disassembly, cleaning, replacement of worn parts, fresh lubrication, reassembly, regulation and a water-resistance test — usually 7 to 15 working days. Every overhaul carries a one-year guarantee.
